Staff Members

The staff at our clinic is a very tight knit group of dedicated professionals. Our excellent interpersonal relationships covey a sense of family that is noticed by visitors to our clinic. We strive to create a relaxed atmosphere where people can feel comfortable asking questions and seeking help getting pregnant. In addition to our personal service, we use advanced techniques and state of the art equipment to give our patients excellent pregnancy rates. We are constantly evaluating our processes and methods for ways to improve. Everyone desires a successful pregnancy. Realizing this is currently an impossible goal, we want everyone to feel satisfied with the service and caring they receive regardless of their outcome.

We offer free tours of our clinic by appointment. These tours are designed to provide patients with general information about our clinic and staff while providing potential patients the opportunity to see our center and get a feel for what makes us different. Even with a short visit, you can get an immediate sense of who we are. Patients should feel confident and comfortable with the staff where they are having infertility testing and treatments. Dr. Ernest Zeringue

Ernest J. Zeringue M.D. (zerang) is an infertility specialist and founder of California IVF: Davis Fertility Center, Inc. He received his medical school training in Charleston at the Medical University of South Carolina. His obstetrics and gynecology residency was completed at Keesler Air Force Base. Following residency, Dr. Zeringue attended fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Duke University in Durham, NC. He then served as the Division Chief of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base. While in the military, Dr. Zeringue's clinic was among the busiest in the hospital and maintained a very high patient satisfaction rating. As one of only a hand full of infertility specialists in the Air Force, Dr. Zeringue also performed a high volume of infertility surgery including tubal reversals. Research interests include insulin resistance as it relates to weight and infertility problems. He has successfully implemented a diet regimen that has been extremely effective in restoring ovulation to many women. Countless individuals have sought counseling for weight management independent of attempts at becoming pregnant. Dr. Zeringue is an Associate Clinical Professor at UC Davis Medical Center (VCF).

Dr. Laurie Lovely

Dr. Lovely is a well known infertility specialist in the Sacramento area. She joined the California IVF: Davis Fertility Center team in August 2008, after 7 years at Northern California Fertility Medical Center (NCFMC). She has a strong reputation as a compassionate and caring doctor that people adore.

After completing medical school at Emory University School of Medicine in 1991, Dr. Lovely trained as an obstetrician and gynecologist at Keesler Medical Center from 1991 to 1995. Her subspecialty training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility was completed at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in 1998. Dr. Lovely then relocated to Northern California for an assignment as the chief of the division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at David Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base from July 1998 to July 2001. She joined the staff of Northern California Fertility Medical Center (NCFMC) as a private practice specialist until 2008, when she joined the California IVF family. She continues to focus on her passion for helping to build families for those who can use medical assistance.

Dr. Laurie Lovely is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She has received a research grant from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists for her work on the effects of hormones and the endometrial lining. She presented a prize-winning paper on the effects of stress and infertility at an annual meeting of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Additional professional interests include pubertal problems and reconstructive tubal surgery including tubal ligation reversals. Dr. Lovely is an Associate Clinical Professor at UC Davis Medical Center (VCF).

Dr. Pravin Goud

Pravin Goud, MD, PhD, joined California IVF Fertility Center in 2012, after working for Kaiser Vacaville for many years. Dr. Goud has a reputation of providing compassionate care for his patients and is dedicated to providing the best possible care for each individual. In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Goud holds a PhD in reproductive biology and has published extensively in the field of oocyte aging and maturation. He has been named as a co-author on many peer reviewed publications along with some of the most respected names in the infertility field. Dr. Goud is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

Dr. Goud received his PhD in reproductive biology in 1999 from Ghent University in Belgium. After moving to the United States, Dr. Goud completed his OBGYN residency at Wayne State University in 2006. After residency, Dr. Pravin Goud completed his reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship at Wayne State University in 2008, at which time he joined the Kaiser Permanente Medical Group as the clinical director Center for Reproductive Health in Vacaville. He received his certification in Androlgy and Embryology as a high complexity laboratory director (HCLD) in 2011. Dr. Goud is an Associate Clinical Professor at UC Davis Medical Center (VCF).

Dr. John Gould

Dr. John E. Gould is an Associate Clinical Professor of Urology at UC Davis School of Medicine providing services to Sacramento area patients.  As a specialist in male infertility, his services include vasectomy reversal, microsurgical sperm extraction, electroejaculation, and vasopididymostomy.  As a regional leader in the field of male infertility, Dr. John E. Gould has provided services at Northern California Fertility Center, Kaiser, UC Davis Health System, Sutter Health System, and California IVF Fertility Center.  Dr. Gould received his B.A. degree from Williams College, Williamstown Massachusetts in 1974.  He then attended medical school at UC Davis School of Medicine, receiving his M.D., Ph.D. in 1984, and went on to complete his residency at UC Davis School of Medicine, graduating in 1989.  He is board certified by the American Board of Urology.  Dr. Gould is available to see patients at California IVF Fertility Center. Dr. Gould provides services through his private practice Male Fertility Medical Associates, Inc.

Deborah Johnson, BS, MA
Senior Embryologist

Deborah joined the staff of California IVF as Senior Embryologist in 2006. Her embryology career began in 1986, as research technician at the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine, in Norfolk, Virginia, the first IVF clinic in the U.S. In 1990, she was trained as an embryologist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Deborah relocated to California in 1998 and worked at Northern California Fertility Medical Center in Roseville as supervisor of andrology and embryology laboratories. At California IVF, Deb is responsible for all aspects of andrology and embryology laboratories. Not only is she a skilled embryologist and expert in ICSI, embryo biopsy, and egg/embryo freezing, Deb loves interaction with patients. She meets with every new IVF patient, teaching an embryology "Egg Class" to patients before starting treatment.

Lisa Miller, MS, TS
Embryologist

Lisa has been part of the California IVF team since 2005. Lisa completed her undergraduate studies at California Polytechnic State University with a major in Animal Science from 1986 to 1990. Lisa then attended graduate school from 1992-1994. She received a Masters of Science (MS) degree from UC Davis in the area of reproductive physiology and animal science. She has worked in IVF labs since 1994 to the present. She initially began work with Pacific Fertility Center (PFC - originally San Francisco Center for Reproductive Medicine) in August 1994 until joining Northern California Fertility Medical Center (NCFMC) in October 1997. Lisa worked with Deborah Johnson, our Senior Embryologist, at Northern California Fertility Medical Center in Roseville, and has been in the field of embryology since 1994. Together, Lisa and Deborah are an outstanding embryology team; their work styles and technical abilities are an asset to the success of California IVF.

Michele Thomas, MBA
Practice Administrator

Michele joined California IVF in 2006 as Practice Administrator of the clinic. With years of experience in private practice and hospital administration, she has embraced this growing practice as her own. She is responsible for the financial growth and health of the practice, and day-to-day operations, and enjoys the chance to work directly with patients.

Terri Perez
Business Development Manager

Terri has been part of the team at California IVF since 2006. Her role as Business Development Manager includes physician outreach, contract administration, and human resource development. Terri has many years experience as a medical practice administrator and private consultant to health care providers throughout California. Terri also speaks Spanish and provides Spanish translation. Terri is a tireless worker and strives to help patients and staff in any way possible. She works continuously to negotiate contracts with insurance companies, to expand coverage for patients and improve patient access to care.

Alisa Zeringue, RN
Registered Nurse

Alisa started the practice with Dr. Zeringue in 2004. Her role as Patient Coordinator and Clinic RN has seen the arrival of over 400 babies at California IVF. Alisa has helped create the family atmosphere of the clinic, and easily shares her love and dedication for patients. Alisa has over 20 years experience as a nurse and brings a wide range of experience and knowledge to our clinic. Among her many duties, Alisa is the New Patient Coordinator, taking the time to meet each new patient, to guide and educate them through the process. She is also responsible for the procedure and recovery room services, and provides hands-on support to all aspects of clinical care throughout the clinic. Alisa is loved by everyone for her warm, bubbly personality. She brings comfort to many couples as they cope with the struggles of infertility.

Yvonne Rotteveel, RN
Registered Nurse

Yvonne joined the staff at California IVF in 2010, as our Clinic RN and Patient Coordinator. She received her RN training from University of Portland, in Portland, Oregon, and started her career in fertility services at a Bay Area fertility clinic. Yvonne's duties at California IVF include Patient Coordination for IVF and FET patients, as well as procedure and recovery room services. She provides patient education to IVF patients in monthly RN Classes, and provides clinical leadership to the Patient Coordinators. Yvonne is appreciated for her warmth and dedication to each patient – they love her. She takes the time to address their concerns, no matter how small. We frequently get notes from patients about how confident and special patients feel with Yvonne, and how she "makes everything better."

 

 

Anna Diaz
Administrative Assistant

Anna joined our team in 2007. She has many years experience in medical office management and brings her knowledge, organizational skills, and attention to detail to our administrative team. As Administrative Assistant, she coordinates her work between the front office, billing, insurance, and management, to ensure that the clinic runs smoothly and efficiently, behind the scenes. Anna creates a caring and trusting impression with our patients, making sure that their questions and requests are her top concern. Among her many talents, Anna also speaks Spanish and is especially dedicated to the Spanish-speaking communities.

Lisa Maggard
Special Projects

Lisa has been part of California IVF since the clinic's opening in 2004. Lisa first worked with Dr. Zeringue as an Air Force Medical Technician in the fertility clinic at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California. Since the opening of California IVF, Lisa has worked in all aspects of patient care including IVF, IUI, and donor coordination, as well as operations of the clinical laboratory. Lisa is now responsible for overseeing licensure, accreditation and quality assurance. Her unique role in Special Projects allows her to lend her expertise to every aspect of clinic operations, to improve and expand patient services, efficiency, and patient satisfaction.

Kerri Thomas
Patient Coordinator

Kerri started her career at California IVF in 2008 as Administrative Assistant, where she learned all aspects of the front office. In less than one year, she advanced to the position of Patient Coordinator for IVF, FET and IUI. We often receive letters from patients, expressing their appreciation for Kerri's warmth and caring, and her ability to give them hope.

Oocyte and Embryo Donation Coordinator

Su became part of California IVF in 2007. After graduating from the University of California, Davis, Su started her career at California IVF by learning all aspects of the clinic, and was then promoted to Patient Coordinator, responsible for donor IVF and third-party coordination. Through her hard work and dedication, Su continually receives high praise from her patients, for the care and attention that each patient deserves.

Corey Owens
Business and Marketing Coordinator

Corey joined the California IVF team in 2010, as the Business and Marketing Coordinator. Corey brings a wide range of experience in communications, marketing, and information technology. His duties include web development, strategic and business planning, marketing and advertising. As a father of two boys, Corey understands the joys of parenthood and hopes his contributions to California IVF will increase the number of proud and happy parents in the Sacramento and Northern California. He is fascinated by the science of in vitro fertilization and other assisted reproductive therapies (ART), including pre-implantation genetic diagnoses (PGD). Cynthia Martinez
Receptionist

Cynthia came to California IVF in 2009, after graduating from the University of California, Davis. As our Front Office Receptionist, Cynthia is the first person that patients meet, and she offers her own brand of warmth and humor to the job. She enjoys getting to know patients and their families, and helping to facilitate their questions and concerns. For potential patients, calling for information or pricing, Cynthia is extremely knowledgeable and patient, willing to take the time and put them at ease. Cynthia also speaks Spanish and assists in Spanish translation. Cynthia is the coordinator of the Annual California IVF Family Reunion held every year in Davis. Katie Kryske
Embryology Technician, Andrology

Katie completed her Bachelor's degree from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo in 2007, followed by two years experience as a research associate at University of California, Davis. Katie came to California IVF in 2009. She works as an Embryology Technician in the andrology and embryology laboratories, assisting Deborah and the embryology team with laboratory procedures related to IUI and IVF.

Kristine Marwan
Administrative Assistant, Surgery Coordinator

Kristine joined the staff at California IVF in 2009, after completing her education at the University of California, Davis. As Administrative Assistant to the front office, Kristine is responsible for greeting and rooming patients, medical records, as well as reception and telephone duties. As Surgery Coordinator, Kristine schedules, then prepares and follows her patients, before and after surgery. Her warm, caring style has earned her many compliments from her patients.

 

 

 

 

Stacey Whittaker
Financial Coordinator

Stacey joined California IVF as our Financial Coordinator in 2008. Prior to that, she trained as a Medical Assistant and worked in the medical field for several years before specializing in fertility services. Stacey goes the extra mile for every patient, verifying insurance coverage and calling each patient to explain their insurance benefits. Her duties include patient billing, financial counseling, pre-authorizations, and referrals. She receives many compliments from patients about her compassion and willingness to help ease the stress of financial and insurance matters.

Dolores Fagundes
Insurance Billing

Specialist Dolores Fagundes joined California IVF in 2008. She is our Insurance Billing Specialist, and spends every day billing and tracking insurance claims. Dolores has over 20 years experience in billing, accounting and management, and loves interacting with our patients. She is extremely knowledgeable working with insurance companies and puts her dedication to work for California IVF.
